Kansas City Barbeque Society cooks up some fun at
Brasstown Valley Resort Memorial Day Weekend

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. (April 1, 2008) –Get your grills warmed up and your appetite ready as Brasstown Valley Resort, located just two hours north of Atlanta, brings you the 1st Annual North Georgia Mountains Horsin’ Around BBQ Showdown. Operated under the sanction of the Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS), this event, set for May 23-25, is sure to get mouths watering and stomachs rumbling. KCBS is the largest international organization of barbeque and grilling enthusiasts, and all meat judges are trained in the rules of judging KCBS-sanctioned competitions.

Contestants will come from across the state of Georgia and beyond to compete for over $6,500 in prize money, as well as trophies, ribbons and prizes. It is from here that based on their performance, cooks can qualify to compete on the national stage in the American Royal Barbecue in Kansas City. The Grand Champion will also be entered into a drawing to compete in the Jack Daniels World Championship Invitational Barbecue in Lynchburg, Tenn. later this year.

“We are very excited to host such a great event here at Brasstown Valley Resort,” said Charles Burton, general manager of the resort. “There is no better place to be to kick off your summer than here. With all the food and entertainment, now is the perfect time to check out Brasstown Valley Resort.”

In addition to the exciting cook-off, there will be different activities for the entire family. Such attractions as the arts and crafts fair, bike show, delicious concessions, Kid’s Corral Fun Zone, horse shoes, cloggers as well as live music and entertainment will be sure to make this event a family-favorite for years to come. The event will be held at the picturesque stables at Brasstown Valley Resort and admission is $3 per person.

All this fun will be going towards a good cause, as the event will be benefitting S.A.F.E. (Support in Abusive Family Emergencies, Inc.), the state-certified, not-for-profit domestic violence and sexual assault program serving Towns and Union Counties in north Georgia. It is a certified member of the Children’s Advocacy Centers in Georgia.
